About Us
Although most folks in the county are aware of the Watermelon Roundup, it seems they don’t know much about the Yoakum County Connection. That makes sense, because we are a behind-the-scenes organization, working to raise money for events that bring people together for the enjoyment of art and cultural happenings. The Yoakum County Connection is a committee of local leaders comprised of citizens from Denver City, Plains, Tokio, Higginbotham and Bronco. These fine local folks, volunteer their time to promote greater area participation in an effort to connect people of all ages, ethnic groups and social and economic interests through financial contributions that cover every aspect of the event. We purchase publicity, pay entertainers, publish the tabloid, buy prizes and trophies, and also pick up the tab for whatever it takes to make the event run smoothly and draw people to Yoakum County, once a year on Labor Day weekend.
We encourage you to get involved in our goal, and to take part in the Connection, either by your financial support, or by your service to this 501c3 non-profit organization. We are always looking for new faces with fresh ideas, so please make a point and attend a board meeting and get acquainted with our enthusiastic directors, who can help you find a way to take part. Yoakum County Connection activities keep our youngsters (and Oldsters) participating in the arts. We look forward to seeing you there!
Sincerely,
Elsa Moya
